Y6 Growing Project (Apr 2026)

Lesson: Science

Class: Year Six Year: 2025 - 2026

Y6 are growing courgettes.  Today, we planted the seeds, now they need looking after.  We need to keep them warm, water them regularly and remember to re-pot them when neccessary.  We are keeping our fingers crossed for a bumper harvest!

We have learnt that...

*courgettes are actually a fruit, not a vegetable, because they grow from a flower and have seeds inside.

*you can actually eat the yellow flowers that grow on the plant.

*they contain more potassium than a banana.

'Through respect for all,

in a safe and supportive community, we celebrate our diversity and reach for success in all we do'.
